Wedding Tip: Do Something Spontaneous

Today's wedding tip was inspired by Kevin & Amber's wedding from last October.  After their group and couple pictures were done, we had a bit of time before the wedding dinner/luncheon.  They suggested that we go somewhere for a snack, and so onto Jamba Juice we went.  Being spontaneous on your wedding day can make for some great photos and a super fun experience!  Whether it's making a quick stop at a local hotspot or deciding to make a short trip to your favorite place to hang out, doing something outside of the day's scheduled events can let your personalities shine and give you a break from the busy-ness of the day.

P.S., I heard that Kevin and Amber got free Jamba Juice by showing them the pictures, so sometimes it pays to be spontaneous!

Katie & David's formals, Part 1: The First Look

In case you haven't noticed yet, I love first look sessions.  They are so much fun, and usually they let me have more time photographing the bride and groom together than I would have had otherwise.  Katie and David's first look was a very fun one at a beautiful location.  I love making a big deal out of that special moment when he saw her in the dress for the first time. (Well, kind of.  He ended up having to come dress shopping with her and saw her try on lots of dresses, but didn't know which one she had picked.)  We got some great pictures that really capture the moment.  I love how I can feel their excitement, happiness, and love through the images.  These pictures seriously make me SO happy!

I love David's expression in the next picture.  It's like he's saying 'I can't take it anymore, please just let me see her!'

And then he finally gets to see her!
Look at how pretty she looks in that dress!

And then she brings out his ring, which he gets to wear just for the pictures.

Stay tuned for the rest of their formal session.  It's a great one for sure!

Heather & Jason's Salt Lake City formals session

When I saw Heather at her formals session I was amazed.  She was absolutely gorgeous.  I am in love with her hairstyle and her dress.  We started out at the Salt Lake Temple.  I was able to shoot at five or so spots I'd never used before on the grounds, which is pretty good for the place I've photographed at the most.

Then we went to Trolley Square.  That place has so much character.

Wedding Tip: Get Advice From Your Wedding Professionals

For many of you, this is your first time planning a wedding.  There are so many things to do and figure out that it may seem like a bit too much to handle at times.  But fortunately for you, you have professionals ready to help you at every turn.  The vendors you hired have helped countless brides through the same thing you are experiencing.  They know all the ropes of their trade and will be able to guide you along the way.  Your florist can tell you how long you can expect your bouquet to last in hot summer weather.  Your reception center representative can show you how to set up the space so you have as much flow as possible.  Your wedding invitation designer can tell you when you should be sending out your announcements.  Your wedding dress vendor can give you tips on keeping your gown as clean as possible.  This seems like an obvious thing, but I think many brides just don't think to (or are afraid to) ask their wedding professional about questions pertaining to their line of business.  If you don't trust your vendor to give you helpful advice, maybe you shouldn't trust them with your wedding.  Wedding professionals have so much insight to share with you, all you need to do is ask!  It has the potential of making planning so much easier, and it can give you much better results as well.  Let them remove some of your burdens and enjoy planning your wedding!

Katie & David's engagements at the Provo Riverwoods

This session was incredible.  As you might be able to tell by the red hair, Katie is my sister-in-law.  I absolutely love these two and I am so glad David is part of the family now.  The Riverwoods is an excellent place for classy urban engagements.  I am so happy with what we got.  Enjoy!
