JarvieU Workshops

Here's some old things that I haven't posted yet.  In April and July I was able to participate in some workshops with Scott Jarvie as part of JarvieU, the internship-like thing I did with him over the summer.  The first one was part two of the shoot with Liz.  (I know, I posted that forever ago.)  We got to practice natural lighting as well as something I'd never done before, studio lighting.  It was a fun experience.

The second workshop was a 'flash camp' at Payson Lakes where we learned more about using flash.  We photographed through before sunset until late in the night, then woke up early the next morning to take pictures with the sunrise.  It was great practice for me.
Okay, so there's no flash in that one, but I still like it.

Emily & Michael's wedding, pt. 1: Oquirrh Mountain Temple (and getting ready)

I thought I'd try something new and break up the wedding into two posts.  Emily and Michael had their wedding at the Oquirrh Mountain Utah temple on a very warm day in early September.  I had so much fun working with this couple and I am so happy they found each other.  I had never been to the Oquirrh Mountain temple before, so this was a fun new experience for me.
I was able to go to the place Emily was getting ready that morning and take a few pictures of her getting ready.  I think getting ready pictures are fun.  They can be beautiful or silly, and help paint a picture of the full experience of the wedding day.

Then at the temple we had some fun too.

I love the expression in the next photo.  I think it captures the couple's personalities well and it just reminds me of the fun you can have with your spouse.

One year

This month marks one year from when I decided to turn my dream into a reality.  Last November I turned in my application for a business license and started taking pictures of people not just for fun, but because I wanted to turn this into my career.  It was hard and frustrating at first, in fact it still is sometimes, but as time went on I improved and I began picking up more clients.  It has been a wonderful journey so far and I am excited to see what the next year will bring.  As a thank you to my clients past, present, and future, I am going to offer 20% off any session that is booked by this Saturday.  I just might throw in a little something too for wedding package bookings. :)  I would be nowhere without you great people who choose me to preserve your memories and I am so grateful for that.

And let me throw in a sneak peak of the latest wedding :)

Don't forget the 20% off sale ends Saturday, so don't put it off too long ;)

Tiffany & Shawn's engagements

Tiffany and Shawn were married on Friday, so it's time to post their engagements.  We found some very lovely locations up in the canyon for their pictures.  The fall colors were just starting to show and it made for some beautiful scenery.  I had a really great time with these two.

The Holland Family

I love these guys.  I have never had so much fun on a family session before.  They had so many wacky ideas that were just a hoot to take pictures of.  Not to mention they are a beautiful family.

Work it people, work it.
Then the amazing Ice Cream Trilogy.

And who doesn't want a picture with their beloved giant van?

This family is so bad.  Check it.

And so cute at the same time.
